Heroes and Generals 2 will feature the mechanics you know and love from the unique blend of FPS and Strategy while massively overhauling and reimagining mechanics, gameplay and everything in-between that the previous game had to offer. The latter name can be controversial, but is generally embraced by long-time lovers of the genre and is not considered derogatory.After 15 years of development and 20MM registered players, it’s now time to take everything we have learned and evolve the franchise into something truly remarkable. Thematic Games are sometimes called Experience Games or "Ameritrash" games (meaning "American-style boardgames"). Themes tend to invoke more everyday events such as trading and building. This is contrasted with Strategy Games, also known as "Eurogames." Eurogames are usually built around an elegant set of mechanics, with a more general theme (e.g. Science fiction and fantasy themes are common. Themes typically involve fighting or good-versus-evil conflicts with heroes and villains. This type of game often features player to player direct conflict (with the chance of elimination), dice rolling, and plastic miniatures.Ī Thematic Game is usually created around its main dramatic theme, which its rules and mechanics aim to depict. Some well-known examples are Battlestar Galactica, Twilight Imperium and War of the Ring. Thematic Games contain a strong theme which drives the overall game experience, creating a dramatic story ("narrative") similar to a book or action movie. Starting in July 2021, we added more detailed questions about publication plans, so prototypes from that time forward will likely have more information available on the prototype’s detailed listing. Specifically, a “Yes” in the “Looking for a Publisher” field means that “Looking for a Publisher” was at least one option the designer chose under publication plans when they listed their prototype. From this point onward, you can filter the quick look listing below to find games looking for a publisher to pick them up. In April 2021, we started giving designers the chance to share more about how they are looking to publish their game when they add it to our Prototypes listing.
